The Benefits of Joining the ICG
Welcome to the Independent Care Group
Who are we?
The Independent Care Group is the recognised representative body for independent care providers in York and North Yorkshire. We are a non-profit organisation with a Board of Directors who work on a voluntary basis for the benefit of the independent and voluntary care industry.
Who do we work with?
We work on behalf of care homes, domiciliary care agencies, supported living, specialist extra care housing providers and day care centres, both in the private and voluntary sectors. This includes older people and those with dementia; people with physical disabilities; those with mental health issues and individuals with learning disabilities.

We work alongside the statutory authorities on an on-going basis, including North Yorkshire County Council, City of York Council, all the Clinical Commissioning Groups in North Yorkshire and the Care Quality Commission. We act as a professional conduit, passing on concerns of providers and the solution on issues such as fee rates, contracts, terms and assistance through learning. We ensure care providers have input into quality standards and assessments so that they are clear and achievable.
We promote the care sector by lobbying politicians both in person, by regular media releases to national newspapers and regional television. We also have an extensive social media presence making sure that adult social care is at the forefront.
Our commitment
Our commitment is to our members helping care providers give the best possible service to vulnerable individuals they look after.
We evaluate our service to our members on an annual basis to ensure the quality of service remains of the highest quality and maintains consistency.
